Without a Net

4 p.m., Thursday, April 16, at Skylark Bookshop

Are you a writer who would like to read their work at the festival? Without A Net is a new project for Unbound, a way of welcoming more people to participate in Thursday night’s Lit Crawl and of generating fresh, creative work especially for the festival.

Here’s how it works: we’ll meet on the mezzanine floor at Skylark Bookshop (22 S. Ninth St. in the District) at 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. Come armed with laptops, quills, fountain pens, or crayons – anything that you can write with!

We will then give you:

(a) a prompt (possibly two) and

(b) 40 minutes.

During that time, you’re free to let your creativity fly – without a net! – and to write something of no more than 400 words (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, we don’t care) based on the prompt.

If – and only if! – you are happy with what you’ve produced at the end of the 40 minutes, you can submit your work. The best entries (judges’ decision will be final, etc., etc.) will be invited to read their brand-new piece at the Unbound Lit Crawl kickoff event at Orr Street Studios at 7 p.m. that night.

It’s as simple as that. If you’d like to share your work with a wider (and always appreciative!) audience – come join us!
