  • The Missouri Review

    The Missouri Review, founded in 1978, is one of the most highly regarded literary magazines in the United States. It's based at the University of Missouri and publishes four print issues each year, as well as online-exclusive poetry, prose, and features. Publications are selected from unsolicited submissions sent by writers from around the world.

  • Moon City Review

    Springfield, Missouri’s Moon City Review accepts submissions of fiction, flash fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, graphic narrative, and translations.

  • Laurel Review

    Laurel Review is a biannual print magazine seeking submissions of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, review, script, and those that blur the lines between genres. It seeks both established and new voices in the writing world, and we are especially interested in writing by those whose identities have been historically under-represented.

  • Janus

    Janus is a student produced literary magazine published out of Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. Currently, the magazine operates solely as a Westminster College magazine. The magazine accepts works from Westminster students year-round and publishes each spring semester. The magazine publishes pieces in poetry, fiction and non-fiction prose, and visual art.

  • Swift

    Swift allows writers to submit up to five pieces of creative work regardless of genre. Like our namesake, the journal prioritizes pieces that are adept in multiple ways at the same time: speed and strength, quick movements and longevity of flight, drag and thrust. For each issue, it aims to choose a select few pieces worth reading in their entirety.

  • Arcade

    Arcade Magazine is the University of Central Missouri's student literary journal. It publishes poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and visual art submitted by UCM's undergraduate students.

  • Kansas City Review

    Kansas City Review (formerly Kansas City Voices) will accept submissions of art, poetry and prose again in January 2027.

  • EPIC

    EPIC is the University of Missouri’s undergraduate literary and arts magazine. Every spring, EPIC publishes a volume of poetry, short form fiction, creative nonfiction, and visual art.

  • Harbinger

    Harbinger Literary Magazine is the student-run literary journal at Stephens College. Although it’s changed names and formats, the literary magazine has allowed students from all disciplines to publish their works for nearly a century. In 1980, the publication became Harbinger, a name that signifies its dedication to publishing the works of writers and artists of the future.

  • The Hickman Review

    The Hickman Review — A literary and art magazine produced by Hickman High School students in Columbia, Missouri.

  • Arts & Letters

    Lincoln University’s English department sponsors the Arts & Letters literary journal, which showcases creative writing and art produced by Lincoln University students enrolled in ENG 474: Internship in Editing and Publishing each spring.

  • The New Territory

    The New Territory Magazine is an outlet for the Lower Midwest's journalists, photographers, artists and creative writers. The New Territory publishes journalism that prioritizes accuracy, depth, understanding and inspiration, and curates great regional literature and art for every issue.
