Dan Kaufman

Dan Kaufman is the author of The Fall of Wisconsin (W.W. Norton). He is a contributing writer for The New York Times Magazine and a regular contributor to The New Yorker and The New York Review of Books. In 2023, he won a Sidney Award, from the Sidney Hillman Foundation, for his New Yorker article on the United Auto Workers strike. He has received support from the Economic Hardship Reporting Project and two fellowships to the MacDowell Colony. He is currently a fellow in the Watchdog Writers Group and working on a history of the Rust Belt. He grew up in Wisconsin and lives in the Catskill Mountains with his wife and son.
