Unbound Access

Unbound is committed to becoming more and more accessible to more and more members of our increasingly diverse community. For questions about specific needs, to offer feedback, or to donate and help with Unbound Access planning, please contact us at accessibility@unboundbookfestival.com.

Invisible Disabilities Pass
Individuals with hidden or invisible needs for accessibility accommodation can show this pass image to any Unbound volunteer to discreetly indicate that you need reserved or early seating, Quiet Space access, directions to accessible toilets, or additional support as you navigate Unbound venues and events.

SERVICES AVAILABLE FOR 2024

Download a screen-reader friendly version of the schedule HERE.

Audio Assistance: There will be CART captioning and ASL interpretation for the keynote event at the Missouri Theatre on Friday night. ASL interpretation will also be provided for all events on Saturday in the Katy Ballroom at the Broadway Hotel.

Seating: Reserved seating will be available at all Unbound venues. Please speak with any Unbound volunteer upon arrival. Early admittance to the Missouri Theater for the keynote event on Friday evening  will be available. The theater will open to all participants who require accessibility accommodation plus up to two loved ones, aides, attendants, or support persons and one service dog. In order to provide access to as many participants as possible, seats may not be saved for other members of you group, who will be allowed to enter when doors open to the public. It is likely they will need to be seated elsewhere within the venue.

Service Dogs: Service Dogs in compliance with ADA Requirements are welcome in all Unbound venues. Our Unbound volunteers are available at every venue to ensure you are seated somewhere suitable.

Quiet Spaces: Dedicated Quiet Spaces are provided for individuals needing to rest between events and take a break from festival noise and stimulation. Please respect the sensory needs of others who enter the Quiet Spaces for rest. Water and snacks will be provided.

Toilets: Accessible toilets are provided throughout the Unbound Book Festival major venues. See the table below for more details.

MOVING FORWARD: FEEDBACK!

Unbound is in the process of implementing our ever-evolving, concerted effort toward greater inclusion and accessibility. We have a lot in the works and a long way to go. Please be patient as we strive toward this important goal. As an entirely free and volunteer-run festival, even our initial plans may take years to implement.

Moving forward, we will need input and direction, especially from individuals with accessibility and inclusion needs. Their perspectives and those of their loved ones, aides, attendants, and support persons are very important to us.

To that end, please help us improve by emailing feedback to accessibility@unboundbookfestival.com

  • What did we do well? Kudos help us know what is working.

  • What can we improve? Help us make meaningful adjustments.

  • What did we totally forget? Share additional accommodations you hope to see.

MOVING FORWARD: HELP US!

As we continue to pursue our goals, we will also need support, assistance, partners, sponsors, and volunteerism from individuals, institutions, and businesses, especially those with special skills, training, and motivation around improving accessibility and inclusion. If you would like to help, please email your interest to accessibility@unboundbookfestival.com.
