Lit Crawl Columbia!

To kick off this year’s festival, we are proud to partner with the LitQuake organization to present an evening of readings, performance, and community on Thursday, April 18. Attendance at all events is free, although our kind hosts would certainly appreciate it if you would buy a drink or two. There is no need to reserve a spot. For ages 21 and over.

A group of Columbia’s local authors share the openings of new, unpublished work.

9–9:45 pm: Hitt Street Records, 10 Hitt Street

LOCALISSIMO
More local authors share their poetry, essays, and short fiction.

9–9:45 pm: Hexagon Alley, 110 S. 9th Street

THE NEW TERRITORY
The New Territory publishes some of the finest and most exciting writing coming out of the Midwest. Publisher Tina Casagrand presents a selection of writers whose work has graced the pages of the magazine.

10–10:45 pm: Gunter Hans, 7 Hitt Street

THE NEXT WEATHER 
The Next Weather reading series is a beloved institution in Columbia - come and hear founder Marc McKee introduce a dream team of alumni.  

10–10:45 pm: Top Ten Wines, 111 S. 9th Street

PAST TEN
Donald Quist hosts a live version of his acclaimed online essay project, Past Ten. Five writers share specially-composed pieces contemplating what they were doing/thinking ten years ago.

11– LATE: Broadway Brewery, 816 E. Broadway

GRAND FINALE

Three teams - poets, prosers, and booksellers – compete for the probably least prestigious prize in the literary world. They’ll have nothing to lose but their dignity. Charades, MadLibs, and Cards Against Humanity - only with books (and beer.)
