See this man? He is one of the most charming people you'll ever meet. Also, he can write like an angel.
Born and reared in Springfield, Missouri, Steve Yates is an M.F.A. graduate from the creative writing program at the University of Arkansas. In April 2017, Unbridled Books will publish his third novel, The Legend of the Albino Farm, a horror story told inside out from the perspective of the beleaguered family that owned the property Springfield known as the Albino Farm.
Yates is the winner of the Juniper Prize in Fiction, and he has been granted three Literary Arts fellowships from the Mississippi Arts Commission — two for his fiction and one for creative nonfiction. He is also the recipient of an individual artist’s grant from the Arkansas Arts Council for his fiction. In April 2013, University of Massachusetts Press published his collection Some Kinds of Love: Stories, and he is the author of two other novels, Morkan’s Quarry and The Teeth of the Souls. His work has appeared in The Missouri Review, Ontario Review, South Carolina, Elder Mountain: A Journal of Ozarks Studies, and Kansas Quarterly/Arkansas Review.
Steve is marketing director at University Press of Mississippi in Jackson, and lives in Flowood with his wife, Tammy.
