Dinah Fried is a designer, partner at Small Stuff, and author of Fictitious Dishes: An Album of Literature’s Most Memorable Meals

After earning a BA in English from Tufts University, Fried began her design career as a project manager in Pentagram’s New York office. She went on to join HarperCollins where she worked as a design editor and art director for the visual books imprint, and went on to earn an MFA in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Fried worked as a design fellow at Chronicle Books in California prior to co-founding Small Stuff with her partner, Joe Marianek.

Fried’s work has been recognized by the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Type Directors Club, and 50 Books / 50 Covers and published inthe New York Times, the Guardian, the Huffington Post, NPR, and The New Yorker, among others. She was profiled in Graphic Design USA as a “Person to Watch.” Fried is a critic and adjunct faculty member at RISD and theSchool of Visual Arts. She lives in New York City.
