Claire McCaskill is the first woman from Missouri to be elected to the U.S. Senate. In Congress she has earned a reputation as an independent, plain-spoken fighter for accountability in government and better opportunities for America’s families.
Now in her second term, Claire serves as the top Democrat on the Senate Aging Committee, and on the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. As a senior member of the Armed Services Committee, she helped lead the successful effort to reform the military justice system to curb sexual assault in the ranks. And she is helping lead the effort to combat sexual assaults on college and university campuses.
Her memoir, Plenty Ladylike, was published in 2015 by Simon and Schuster.
