Completing the line-up for our panel considering how history is presented in graphic nonfiction is renowned writer and illustrator, James Otis Smith. We can’t wait to welcome James to Columbia - it’s going to be a fascinating discussion.

James Otis Smith is writer and illustrator of graphic novels and children's books. These include Gang of Fools, Black Heroes of the Wild West, Showtime at the Apollo, a history of the Apollo Theater with writer Ted Fox for Abrams ComicArts; and the upcoming Born In the USA, a history of the 15th Amendment with Lawrence Goldstone. Currently teaching at the School of Visual Arts, James Otis lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He can be found online at jamesmith.org.
